$112,568 to $146,335 per annum + 12.5% superannuation.

About the role

The role is crucial for the overall success of City of Hobart's capital works program, as it plays a key part in implementing an end-to-end project management framework and defined methodologies. The candidate will ensure a seamless and agile execution of capital projects, contributing significantly to the city's development and infrastructure enhancement. 

Role accountabilities include: 

  • Understanding and aligning with organisational strategy to achieve Council objectives and community aspirations.
  • Conducting research for informed, aligned decisions integrated across the organisation.
  • Aligning work with strategic plans and budgets to deliver on City Plan and Greater Hobart 2050.
  • Appling understanding of the political, social, and legal environment to all actions.
  • Providing high-level advice, communication and interaction with all stakeholders.
  • Identifying strategic threats and opportunities.
  • Leading by example, embodying City of Hobart's values and management behaviours.
  • Inspiring a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Fostering cross-divisional cooperation for high-quality community outcomes.
  • Supporting City Project Office in aligning with strategic policy direction for city development.
  • Developing, mentoring, and empowering staff to foster leadership capacity and high performance.

About you

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Project Management or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and demonstrate extensive senior-level experience in project management methodologies, particularly in contract administration. They should have a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards. Additionally, the candidate should excel in writing complex reports and technical documents tailored to various stakeholders, while also leading customer-centric service models. Effective engagement with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and advocacy activities are essential, aligned with strategic goals. Furthermore, the candidate should exhibit leadership qualities, fostering a high-performance culture through mentorship and inclusive approaches. Experience in civil construction, including mid to large-scale projects in "brown field" environments, as well as a thorough understanding of building standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations, is crucial for this role.
