Form of workYou will complete a Certificate III Civil Construction over 36 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with your Host Employer, Sutherland Shire Council.
Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain, operate and construct the civil assets which include all road and stormwater infrastructure
- Be involved in physically demanding tasks including, but not limited to, working with ready-mix concrete and asphalt, excavation, surveying and concrete cutting
- Operation of plant and equipment
- Become accredited and undertake traffic management
- Participate in toolbox talks and risk assessments
- Assist qualified trades people in performing daily civil maintenance activities and construction within the Sutherland Shire LGA

- Ability to work as part of a team
- Commitment to both on and off the job training
- A can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work safely and follow instructions
- High attention to detail
- Demonstrated interest and passion in Civil Construction
- White card (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical including a drug & alcohol screening
- Current Manual Drivers Licence (P1 or above)
