You must:
- be an approved tertiary design qualification and some minor experience.
- have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- have the necessary technical and soft skills to perform the job.
- be committed to a career in your field of study.
- undertake initial design tasks of limited scope and complexity, exercising judgment and initiative in application of design skills, principals, techniques, and methods.
- undertake drafting tasks of varying scope and complexity.
- report to Project Manager/Department Manager.
- work with team member on various projects, occasional team leader in admin tasks.
- be responsible for documentation generation. design/product generation and partial documentation.
- be responsible for Autocad draftsperson and engineering design on minor projects.
- be responsible for the quality and performance of assigned duties.
- be responsible for organizing and coordinating activities to meet specific quality and organizational requirements.
- be responsible for raising non-conformances immediately they are discovered
- be able to work at least 3 days per week.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You could be provided work experience in the following areas:
- undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
- using a range of computer software for developing detailed designs
- undertaking complex calculations
- liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including architects and subcontractors
- compiling job specs and supervising tendering procedures
- resolving design and development problems
- managing budgets and project resources
- scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
- making sure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety
- assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
- ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time
- The host company is located at Melbourne and easily accessible by public transport/parking facility is available.
- If you are unable to attend the office in person, remote working is possible.
