ABOUT POSITION:
  • We’re looking for a Civil Engineer.
  • Our host company offers meaningful work experience, strong supervision, supportive work environment, and is planning to offer ongoing employment for the suitable candidate.
ABOUT YOU:
You must:
  • be an approved tertiary design qualification and some minor experience.
  • have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • have the necessary technical and soft skills to perform the job.
  • be committed to a career in your field of study.
  • undertake initial design tasks of limited scope and complexity, exercising judgment and initiative in application of design skills, principals, techniques, and methods.
  • undertake drafting tasks of varying scope and complexity.
  • report to Project Manager/Department Manager.
  • work with team member on various projects, occasional team leader in admin tasks.
  • be responsible for documentation generation. design/product generation and partial documentation.
  • be responsible for Autocad draftsperson and engineering design on minor projects.
  • be responsible for the quality and performance of assigned duties.
  • be responsible for organizing and coordinating activities to meet specific quality and organizational requirements.
  • be responsible for raising non-conformances immediately they are discovered
  • be able to work at least 3 days per week.
  
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
You could be provided work experience in the following areas:
  • undertaking technical and feasibility studies including site investigations
  • using a range of computer software for developing detailed designs
  • undertaking complex calculations
  • liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including architects and subcontractors
  • compiling job specs and supervising tendering procedures
  • resolving design and development problems
  • managing budgets and project resources
  • scheduling material and equipment purchases and deliveries
  • making sure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety
  • assessing the sustainability and environmental impact of projects
  • ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time
LOCATION:
  • The host company is located at Melbourne and easily accessible by public transport/parking facility is available.
  • If you are unable to attend the office in person, remote working is possible.
