ARO Industries is an innovative and experienced North Queensland engineering firm, located in both Cairns and Atherton, Queensland specialising in the design and delivery of infrastructure for clients throughout North Queensland and the Torres Strait.
Due to industry demand and our continued growth, ARO is seeking to fill the roles of Civil Engineer, Civil Designer and Project Manager.
Reporting directly to the ARO’s Principal Engineer and Director, this is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and knowledgeable personnel to take on senior autonomous role(s) and join our team.
Role
- Ability to work independently on civil engineering projects and actively manage agreed project budgets and programs.
- Participate in the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects including earthworks, roads, stormwater, sewer, and water reticulation.
- Undertake design calculations using a range of software packages including 12D Drainage, Hydraulic Toolbox, EPANET, SIDRA, etc.
- Preparation of technical reports, project specifications and tendering documentation.
- A focus on meeting or exceeding client expectations and compliance with relevant technical standards.
- Act or assist in the role of superintendent and project manager on various engineering projects (including the management of the preparation of required documentation and general contract administration).
- Ensure projects are run and maintained with internal Quality Management Systems procedures and audit requirements in relation to financial management, risk management, project management and communication;
- Liaison with clients, contractors and a variety of professionals including strategic partners and subcontractors.
- Attend regional and remote site inspections throughout all phases of a project.
- Attend work related training for career development.
Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil).
- Associate Degree or Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Diploma in Project Management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Strong knowledge of civil related technical standards and design guidelines
- Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects
- Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technical matters;
- Possession of a current Driver's Licence.
