GFWA is currently looking for competent and experienced Civil Engineers/Civil Engineering Technicians to join their team in Perth WA.
The primary objective of this position is to provide engineering services in support to the Project teams and Supervisor to assist in the achievement of organisational and project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret designs for implementation in construction projects.
- In-conjunction with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor prepare daily programming of site works.
- Review and check all new drawings, instructions and documentation received from the client, Document Controller or authorities.
- Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs, statutory requirements and specifications.
- Have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of the contract to ensure all amendments are detailed and the Project Manager is notified.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager, prepare claims, Contract Notices for Variations, Extension of time Delays, Wet Weather etc.
- In conjunction with the Project Manager and Supervisor, coordinate company workforce and specific trades.
- Notify the Project Manager and Supervisor of any defects, contaminations or variations found, within a timely manner.
- Assist with preparation of site construction reports as required by the Project Manager and General Manager/Construction Manager.
- Monitor construction progress for adherence to programme and report to the Project Manager.
- Identify and assess project risks and report these to the Project Manager.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or its equivalent.
- Experience working on water and/or wastewater utilities infrastructure projects
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite
- Ability to prepare, monitor and update short-term production bar charts.
- Ability to produce SWMS.
- Ability to formulate and prepare minor contractual claims and variations.
- Detailed knowledge of head and subcontract agreement pertaining to specific project.
- Working knowledge of safety legislation, Australian Standards and industry codes.
- Understanding of specific project scope of works and contractual procedures.
