ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Estimator residing in Southeast Queensland to aid in developing tender responses to secure further work in excess of $1m-$10m in value. You will be someone who loves to come up with different strategies to win work, with the ability to think outside the box.
With a strong attention to detail and demonstrated understanding of civil industry practices and standards, you will work collaboratively with our Senior Management and support functions, leading the tender response process from inception through to completion.
You will be very hands on and provide hard dollar tendering. You have previous experience working on a range of tenders and have a minimum of 2 years site experience, on a wide variety of projects which may include earthworks, drainage, culverts, roadworks, tailing dams, Sub divisions, Land developments and much more.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Develop tender response strategies aimed at winning contracts,
- Ensure estimating department maintains and improves profitability,
- Margin tracking and control,
- Client liaison and requesting information from clients as required,
- Working collaboratively with the Estimating Manager and estimating team, to develop shared knowledge and extend team capability,
- Review tenders with management including Construction Methodology, Commercial/Technical Risks and Opportunities, Alternatives, Submission Documentation, Production Rates, Material and Subcontract Enquires and any Programming Requirements,
- Engage in post tender negotiations to secure work,
- Liaise with internal staff to achieve required outcomes,
- Liaise and develop positive relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Your skills and experience.
- You will be proficient in the following programs:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Project
- Microsoft Outlook
- You will prepare and submit accurate estimates, inclusive of preparation of BOQ’s.
- Analyse project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work.
- Ability to complete required information during tender processes including construction programs and interpret detailed construction methodologies.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Supervisors and Engineers to ensure project success.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates and proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Assist in conducting post tender negotiations.
- Prepare Subcontractor packages.
- Be involved in a range of business activities to support and improve decision making.
- Knowledge of civil construction e.g. earthworks, drainage, water and sewer mains, roads and remediation works.
- Work closely with key leaders in the business to own and drive successful outcomes.
- Be involved in a range of business activities to support and improve decision making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise to tight and often competing deadlines.
