The position:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Foreman to lead on of our crews to success, with the opportunity to grow and develop in the organisation. This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday with occasional weekends, and a base location of Bayswater North. Job sites are located in and around Melbourne, predominantly in the South-East.
Key accountabilities:
- Hold crew to account on all deliverables and support and encourage them to deliver in line with requirements;
- Review all new jobs/projects ahead of time (ideally 2 weeks) to ensure accurate measurement, job detail description agreed with client prior to scheduling.
- Deliver all jobs to the plan within timeframe and budget
- Implement ITP’s and/or Quality checks and SWMS & Risk Assessments and ensure the team are across all that they encompass.
- Plan, organise, co-ordinate and order materials required for jobs/projects ahead of time ensuring costs are below budget.
- Ensure team communicate effectively together to increase efficiencies with team;
- Ensure clear and regular communication with Supervisor and PM to update on job status etc
- Ensure team report all near misses and incidents (injuries, asset, and property damage) immediately;
- Ensure any injured workers seek immediate medical attention if needed and report;
- Monitor and ensure compliance of team including licenses, tickets, first aid kits in vehicles, fire extinguishers and other related safety components for the team.
- Give feedback to your team on their Performance throughout the year (no surprises), do not wait for Mid/End Year reviews but, ensure relevant items are captured on reviews for your manager to signoff (shared responsibility), work with People & Culture Team and gain advice, support and templates to assist you;
- Oversee all vehicle, plant, and machinery allocated to jobs, driving crew to be responsible for clean and maintained work areas (including plant and machinery).
- Drive and ensure crew do all pre-starts on plant and vehicles and report any concern, damage immediately.
- Drive accountability within the crews and ensure everyone is meeting the required standards and objectives daily
What do we need from you?
- 3+ years' experience in industry/similar role leading crews
- 3+ year experience in Civil road construction style projects of a similar nature
- Red/White Construction Card
- Good communication skills with ability to communicate verbally, in writing and listening
- Leadership and managements skills – providing clear direction, support and guidance and managing accountabilities
- Valid HR Driver's License – Preferred (for truck and other requirements at times)
- Basic Computer skills – using iPads, system navigation, and safety / quality / compliance applications
- Tickets for Machines Used including Excavator, Bobcat, Loader and other relevant equipment
- Current First Aid Qualification – Foreman must be ready at anytime.
