Candidates are required to possess extensive experience in supervision and demonstrated competency in Civil works and maintenance including Earthworks, Pavements,Drainage and other general civil aspects.
These roles require a minimum of 10 years overall surveillance and/or contract management experience associated with the road construction industry, including experience in surveillance activities relating to the delivery of urban road, rural road, structures, tunnel and/or railway or marine projects and planning, design and construction of main roads and highways (directly or indirectly).
Nominated Personnel must have experience in:
• Main Roads Contract Drawings, Standards and Specifications;
• other Contract Drawings, Standards and Specifications;
• AS2124 Contracts;
• ability to give direction in a high-stress and confrontational situations.; and
• good record keeping is essential.
INSPECTOR (SURVEILLANCE OFFICER)
Responsible to the Superintendent's Representative for (including but not limited to):
- Establishing and maintaining good working relationships and effective channels of communication with the Contractor’s staff.
- General surveillance of the Works in accordance with the Superintendent’s Surveillance Plan to ensure that Contractor is complying with the Contract including
- approved Management Plans.
- Orally advising the Contractor’s Supervisor of any ‘minor’ non-conformances as soon as detected for immediate rectification.
- Advising the Superintendent Representative if ‘minor’ non-conformances are not rectified immediately or if a ‘major’ non-conformance is detected.
- Maintaining clearly written site diaries.
- Reviewing and recording completed Works prior to Hold Point release.
- Inspection of works for conformance and recommending release of Hold Points to the Superintendent Representative.
- Monitoring the Works and Daywork.
- Assisting the Superintendent Representative in the operation of the Contract Management Plan.
- Providing feedback on opportunities for corporate systems improvement to corporate system managers.
- Attending Contractor pre-start meetings (daily when on site).
- Attending Main Roads weekly team monthly site meetings.
- Participating in Job Hazard Risk Assessments (JHRA)
- Undertaking monthly office/site inspections as per inspection schedule.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent Representative or Superintendent’s Quality Management Representative.
- Monitoring and assessing the Contractor’s Traffic Management Plan against the approved plans.
- Assist with measurement on site for progress claimsIdentifying the risks for the Contract Manager / Superintendent's Quality Plan;
