Civil Operator

Randstad Darwin are looking for Civil Plant Operators for local Darwin client. Operate and maintain plant including excavator, backhoe, loaders, skid steer, hydro excavation/vacuum unit. $40-$45 per hour plus penalties. Opportunity for permanent position for the right candidate.What you do:

• Load and unload equipment from low loaders and move it around work sites.
• Undertake manual handling, site clean-up and maintain site and equipment as directed.
• Accurately interpret and read plans and specifications to determine the dimensions, materialsrequired and installation processes.
• Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with the relevant health and safety, quality and
• environmental standards and company risk assessments/work instructions.Carry out routine daily cleaning and maintenance of plant including pre-start checks, making minor adjustments and repairs when necessary, and replenishment of consumables.
• Undertake general labouring/operational duties when required e.g. culvert construction, tallying of gravel, fencing etc.
• Complete all necessary records associated with the carrying out and completion of work.
• Ensure all plant, tools and the site are secure at the end of the day.

What we need:

• Experience in operating heavy machinery and vehicles, including excavator, backhoe, loaders, skid steer, hydro excavation/vacuum unit, and high-pressure jetting unit, and/or other nominated vehicles
• Appropriate plant operator competency certificates for one or more of the listed plant
• Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively while unsupervised and also as a team member
• Demonstrated understanding of maintenance / operational requirements of plant and equipment and willingness to undertake minor maintenance activities and replacement of consumables
• Able to follow precise written and verbal instructions and to take direction
• Knowledge, willingness and ability to work in compliance with applicable Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality legislation/regulations
• Competent reading and writing skills, including the ability to fill in forms and documentation
• Good communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
• Willingness and ability to work in tough climatic conditions and on occasions in remote areas
• White Card
• Current NT MR Driver Licence
