I met both of the Directors of this company many years ago, being introduced by some friends in the industry. They were both working at the senior level as the Head of the Estimating Department and a Project Manager for another business. Both are very well respected and spoken well of as good guys who were great at what they do in the civil commercial construction space.
They've built the relationships they have in the industry through simply being very relatable and always having time for people, cracking jokes and doing everything with a smile. After all, they're both country guys with human values.
Over two years ago, they started their own civil business off the back of relationships they had built over the years. Due to their expertise in tenders and construction, they've delivered on their promises to their clients and have built up a great portfolio of work which has extended from their local area to all over Metropolitan Melbourne.
They currently have 8 projects on their books with 3 set to be breaking ground very soon and a couple of sizeable jobs set to start in a couple of months. With all of this work and one of the Directors being the best Estimators in the area, they're looking to welcome another Project Engineer to help run and manage these projects, as well as upcoming work.
Your Role
This is a great opportunity to join abusiness that is still in its infancy and help create something special. Being a new business, you'll be kept very busy with a wide array of responsibilities and a big impact on their culture moving forward. You'll be directly involved in all of the hiring of site personnel and will have great input into how these jobs are built.
You will be working very closely with the Project Manager / Co-Director of the business to ensure that these projects are built to the highest level of quality. They only utilise new machinery on their sites, to ensure that they're creating the right impression to their clients and encounter no hiccups when it comes to construction.
You will be closely mentored and your career supported in such a way that you will gain promotion and move through the ranks a lot quicker than your peers who work for larger civil construction businesses. Companies like this one, offer you a much more involved and rounded skill-set and experience with opportunities to manage your own smaller projects. Large companies simply cannot offer this experience, and you're more likely to have to move away from Geelong and your friends and family in the medium to long-term.
To be suitable for this role, you will require:
- a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering,
- demonstrated experience delivering civil commercial construction projects including: car parks, site preparations, earthworks, hard stands and basements on building construction sites or paving experience building road projects as a close cross-over
