Duties will include, but not limited to:
- Work closely with the Estimator, Project Manager and Company Superintendent to ensure that the project remains in budget and on schedule.
- Supervise internal staff and sub-contractors to reach practical completion on time
- Order the materials and plant to ensure that resources are available on time for sub-contractors and staff
- Work with subcontractors to manage their staff and keep up to date
- Run toolbox meetings in the mornings and ensure that everyone is on the same page
- Ensure that all subcontractors and staff are adhering to the principal contractor's safety requirements at all times
- Identity any potential problems and discuss with the Engineer to come up with a solution that is cost effective
The ideal person will:
- Have at least 5 years' experience in road projects as a Site Supervisor
- Experience in rail projects is an advantage as there will be rail projects from time to time
- Proven ability to run a team and meet the completion deadlines
- Able to identify potential problems and find effective solutions
- Time management and organisational skills as you will need to forward plan labour and materials
- Great communication skills as you will be negotiating with staff and sub-contractors
- Able to motivate the team to work in a positive environment
- Strong focus on safety to create a zero-harm environment
