Our client, Patiala Homes Pty Ltd. is one of Sydney’s most affordable home builders with vast experience in creating exceptional custom homes. The client is looking to fill a full-time position for a skilled and experienced Civil Technician to join a collaborative and culturally diverse organisation at the office in Marsden Park, NSW.
Over the years, Patiala Homes has maintained a strong foundation of trust and mutual respect generated through positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Due to the company’s recent growth, Patiala Homes has an exciting position for a full-time Civil Technician to join its team. The ideal candidate would be a self-motived individual that possesses the skills and knowledge to assist engineers with civil, site, and structural designs, all while maintaining the highest level of client service.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicants applying for this role should have the following:
Diploma or higher qualification in Civil Engineering Technology or alternatively, at least three years of on-the-job experience in Civil Engineering Technology, in addition to the threshold qualification, to have at least two years of work experience in Civil Engineering Technology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Reading and reviewing project blueprints to determine dimensions of structures and confer with Engineers and Supervisors about preparing construction plans and evaluating field conditions, in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) procedures
• Performing and directing fieldwork and laboratory testing
• Interpreting work assignment instructions, applying appropriate procedures and selecting equipment, and ensuring conformance to design specifications and applicable codes
• Providing support to civil engineers in the design, construction and management of a variety of projects
• Preparing detailed building plans surveying sites and arranging for soil samples to be analyzed
• Ensuring a project matches client specification
• Calculating the amount and type of materials needed
• Ensuring work is carried out according to deadlines
• Obtaining the client’s written approval before any using materials additional to quotation and ensuring client daily sign-off or at the completion of the job as appropriate
• Reporting timely feedback to supervisor in relation to all operational matters – improvements; opportunities; project site problems; equipment condition/failure; maintenance needs; materials and spare parts needs; personal performance; disciplinary etc.
To be considered for this role you must have:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to engage with clients and subcontractors
• Experience in survey drafting with AutoCAD an advantage
• Strict adherence to safety procedures so as not to endanger yourself or co-workers
• Ability to read complex civil schematics
• Proven technical & customer service and problem-solving skills
• Able to work on site without supervision
• Able to work autonomously and set priorities
