Band 5 - $76,910.62 - $89,109.02 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week only)

A Civil Works Officer opportunity exists in the Development and Civil Engineering team, a diverse and highly motivated team involved in major development, transport, utility and infrastructure projects within the municipality. The Development and Civil Engineering team forms part of the Infrastructure Traffic and Civil Engineering Branch and is responsible for providing specialist engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have:
- Inspecting third party Civil Works across the City of Yarra ensuring assets are reconstructed to Council's standards and satisfaction.
- Assist in managing Council's maintenance and capital Works Projects.
- Proficient technical knowledge and ability to interpret plans, apply relevant legislation and negotiate fair outcomes that minimise the asset failure risk.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability negotiate positive outcomes, while managing a high work. load.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced computer literacy with the ability to write letters and respond to correspondence as required.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate with a range of stakeholders to get best possible outcomes.
- Ability to communicate complex civil engineering advice and respond to customer enquiries in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Ability to work in team as well as independently according to need.
- An ability to plan, prioritise, multi-task and organise work and meet set deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Current Victorian driver's license.
