Your new role:
The Classroom and Learning Support supports the classroom teacher, enabling students with additional needs to be included in the Classroom and to experience success in their school environment.

What you will need to succeed (Selection Criteria):
- Support the Catholic Ethos of the school
- Assist teachers and students in and outside the Learning Spaces
- Assist with the supervision of small groups and/or individual students on activities, as directed by the teacher
- Undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups of students under the guidance of the teacher
- Toileting and supervising break times (on a shared roster)
- Support the students and/or teachers in the use of technology
- Assist students with physical, medical or mobility challenges
- Certificate III in Education Support– Teacher’s Aide (or equivalent) is highly desirable or enrolled in a Bachelor of Education/ Masters of Teaching degree
Important Qualities
- Communication skills:Classroom and Learning Supports need to discuss student progress with teachers, so they need to be able to communicate effectively.
- Interpersonal skills: Classroom and Learning Supports interact with a variety of people, including teachers, students, parents and administrators. They need to develop good working relationships with the people they work with.
- Patience: working with students of different abilities and backgrounds can be difficult. Classroom and Learning Supports must be patient with students who struggle with learning and/or their emotions.
- Resourcefulness: To reinforce learning, Classroom and Learning Supports must explain information to student’s in such a way that it meets each student’s learning style.
