About you
St John’s are seeking an enthusiastic and committed educator.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate;
- strong teaching capability proven through meeting all aspects of the proficient teacher in the Australian Professional Standards and operating at the level of a highly accomplished/lead teacher in accordance with the NESA teaching standards (although you may not formally hold this accreditation)
- exemplary classroom teaching practice in your own classroom teaching
- capacity to set standards, build teacher capacity (with extra focus on early career teachers) and support school wide improvement
- high impact teaching strategies (HITS) used by teachers to craft lessons that provide the right amount of support and challenge for every student
- understanding and implementing high quality, evidence-based instruction that meets students' needs within their zone of proximal learning development and has clear SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based) goals
- ability to coach, mentor and model excellent teaching practice to peer teachers within the school in the instruction
- ability to analyse data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth
- strong capabilities to lead adult learning (including emotional intelligence)
- ability to develop leaders
- ability to promote and implement Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
- ability to promote and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth
- capacity to perform any other duties as directed from time to time.
You will have attained:
- a Tertiary qualification in Education
- eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
- Employee ID registration number with Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) or a commitment to Register to Teach in SCS.
