In this role you will…- Write news stories on Climate and environment issues, with a focus on the actions and policies of government and industry in a world promising to reach net zero emissions, and the ramifications for people and nature
- Generate interesting original content in innovative ways including podcasts, social, video and interactive reports
- Generate Climate and environmental story ideas that appeal to a global audience
- Liaise with the Climate and environment editor, and senior editors as necessary, on story ideas/choices, coverage, planning and execute priorities as directed
- Make contacts and develop stories in particular areas of interest
- Engage with social media to promote stories and uncover information
You'll bring….
Knowledge and experience- Proven ability to distill complex information on Climate and environmental policy issues into concise, explanatory copy for Australian and global readers
- Experience of working in a fast-changing and high-pressure news environment, preferably on a news website
- Ability to generate exclusive news stories for a national audience
- Good understanding of media law
- Understanding of Guardian Australia values
- Video and audio experience would be an advantage
