About the RoleBased at Monash Children’s Hospital and making at least 3 visits to our regional locations a year, this is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced Senior Psychologist/Allied Health Clinician to provide leadership to the VicFAS Regional team, as
Clinical Coordinator, to build and support the multi-disciplinary assessment of young children with pre-natal alcohol exposure and broader neurodevelopmental problems who have been assessed as being at risk of FASD.The role will include coordinating the activities of the multi-disciplinary team in preparing for and providing 3 x 3 day regional assessments clinics/year, supervising and managing 3 Regional Navigators, and facilitating secondary consultation activities as required. The scope of activities includes screening appropriate referrals, identifying assessments required under the Australian FASD Diagnostic Guidelines (2016), initiating pre-clinic assessments, and coordinating multidisciplinary assessments. The clinician will also contribute to direct assessment.The VicFAS Regional
Clinical Coordinator ensures the delivery of the clinical process for all patients, with a focus on ensuring excellent communication with families, children and other professionals, clearly written assessment reports, providing feedback to families and caregivers, contributing to teaching and training within the team, and participating in the professional development team meetings. Training in relation to FASD diagnosis would be supported/expected.The position will liaise with internal and external referrers and stakeholders, to facilitate advice, referrals and feedback at a unit and organisational level. They will represent the service in internal and external meetings as requested by Head of Service.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Service, through Developmental Paediatrics, provides specialist multidisciplinary assessments for children with pre-natal alcohol exposure, who show complex neurological, developmental, and behavioural symptoms. The service also delivers education, information and resources to communities at high risk of
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and provides clinical training in FASD diagnosis for paediatricians, psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and social workers. The FASD Services at Monash Children’s Hospital comprises pathways for children 0-3 years through Jacana Clinic, and 3-10 years through VicFAS. This role is with the VicFAS Regional Team.
About You:You are a highly-skilled Paediatric clinician in either Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology. You have extensive experience in developmental assessment of young children in early intervention, child development, infant mental health or disability settings. You have a passion to support children in regional locations, and are keen to take on a leadership role as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team within this innovative service. You also have the following qualities:
- Passion for working with children and infants
- Great organisation and ability to work across caseloads
- Committed to delivering patient centred care and patient advocacy
- Experience working as part of a wide multidisciplinary team
- Great communication skills with patients, families and other team members
What you need:- Senior psychologist or Senior Allied Health Clinician (OT, Speech)
- Current relevant AHPRA / discipline specific accreditations
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of early childhood development or infant mental health in your discipline, at a minimum P3 (or equivalent) level.
- Demonstrated experience as indicated in the position description
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Australian working rights
