Currently, there are two (2) 12-month fixed term contracts available for immediate filling in the newly established Countering Violent Extremism High Risk Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program. ABOUT THE ROLE
The role offers a unique and exciting range of work opportunities, including psychological assessment, intervention and therapeutic case management to adult offenders and young people in our care, in both the community and custodial settings.
This is a rare opportunity for Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists, with strong clinical skills, seeking to further their career within the forensic space. This role offers you the chance to utilise and diversify your existing skills and experience as we launch an innovative, new pilot service to meet the needs of adult offenders and young people who present with violent extremist needs.
Countering Violent Extremism High Risk Rehabilitation and Reintegration Program Team:
You will provide comprehensive assessment for adult offenders and young people either in custody or the community, to inform and deliver intervention as part of a therapeutic case management model. Together with a multi-disciplinary team, you will be involved in the rehabilitation of offenders and young people who are referred to the service. Intervention is targeted at addressing identified needs as they relate to extremist-specific concerns, with a view to enhancing community safety. The role is challenging, dynamic and rewarding. You will gain valuable skills in pilot service implementation processes as you contribute to achieving deliverables in a dynamic and rapidly evolving area of clinical practice.
ABOUT YOU
You will have an understanding of the theories and models of assessment and intervention that relate to criminal behaviour, a strong ethical compass and clear boundaries working with clients. Forensic experience is highly advantageous.
You are a resilient and flexible clinician with the ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances, work harmoniously in a multi-disciplinary environment and engage in a positive and professional manner with a range of stakeholders.

ELIGIBILITY
- You are required to have an accredited Masters, Doctorate or equivalent degree in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology. You must also have current general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology.
- Travel within Western Australia may be required.
- Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies in the Department of Justice for a period of twelve (12) months, in accordance with Part 5 (General Appointment) of the Commissioner's Instructions No. 2: Filling a Public Sector Vacancy and Commissioner’s Instructions No. 39: Interim Arrangements to Fill Public Sector Vacancies.
