Access theAbout the roleThe Clinical Documentation and Coding Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of sustainable, best practice approaches to improve the overall quality of Clinical Documentation through increased compliance with relevant standards. This position will develop and implement Clinical Documentation resource and education materials including those required to support quality and timeliness of documentation, continuum of care, adverse event reporting, discharge summaries, the coding process and accurate Diagnostic Related Group assignment.This position will be responsible for working in Clinical areas to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to improve, develop and implement strategies for Clinical Documentation that will improve the accuracy of clinical coded information.About youOur ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to develop, promote, implement, and evaluate innovative, creative, and sustainable approaches to address issues within a complex health care environment.
- Demonstrated high level written, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate and maintain effective relationships with senior and multi-disciplinary staff.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain quality management strategies, organisational change and best practice principles, initiatives, and concepts in relation to information management and continuum of care.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legalities surrounding Clinical Documentation, requirements of continuity of care, International Classification of Disease 10th edition Australian Modification coding principles and how they relate to DRG assignment in an activity-based funding model.
- Experience in training and education principles, education program development and provision of advice to clinical staff.
- Knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of procedures, policies, regulations, and standards which impact upon the position, in particular Public Sector Guidelines, and a knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal opportunity, and anti-discrimination.
