The Opportunity

Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) is an evolving area in healthcare focused on improving the overall quality, completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of Clinical Documentation in medical records to support the delivery of safe, high quality patient care. It supports accuracy in the clinical coding process, promotes adherence to quality and safety standards as well as ensuring appropriate reimbursement for the excellent care provided to our patients.

The role of Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) is a position that drives best practice CDI within your hospital. As a CDS, you will use your clinical expertise to influence the quality of Clinical Documentation at the point of care to ensure the goals of the national CDI program are reached, improving quality and safety for our patients in the process. If you are looking for an opportunity to positively influence the outcomes of our patients away from the bedside, with the broader support of a national community of practice, this may be the perfect role for you.

Who are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity for a nurse, allied health professional or health information manager/ specialist to step into a new role away from day-to-day clinical operations, using their considerable expertise focusing on CDI. We are looking for a dynamic candidate who is a great communicator capable of driving change and improved outcomes for our patients.

As part of this new and developing field, Healthscope have partnered with external consultants who are experts in the field to assist us with education and onboarding of new starters to ensure that you are well equipped and supported as you take on this CDI journey. You will also be part of a broader national network of CDS team members all dedicated to help each other and grow together.

A bit about you:

· Strong communication skills

· Senior clinical competency

· The ability to work inter-professionally with clinical, nursing, quality and coding staff and develop strong working relationships.

· Strong IT skills and an aptitude to learn

· Understanding of private health funds

· Understanding of accreditation standards and quality frameworks
