The Clinical Manager reports directly to the CEO.
INTRODUCTION
This position description is intended to describe the position, its broad objectives and how it fits within EASA as well as being a list of duties. This position requires a clinician with significant experience in the field of counselling and psychological support who is able to access and interpret guidelines indicating best practice in counselling. It requires demonstrated team leadership skills with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to work with the CEO to co-ordinate and guide the psychological services of EASA.
OBJECTIVE
- To co-ordinate and guide the Psychological Services team in the provision of individual and group counselling, trauma services, psychological assessment, reports, training and referrals
- To work as part of the broader EASA leadership team to ensure EASA remains a leader in the provision of Psychological Services in the NT.
- To maintain a working professional relationship with all staff at EASA within and across services and administrative staff.
RESPONSIBLE FOR
Maintaining responsibility for all administrative aspects in the clinical space within EASA and direct co-ordination of a team of clinical employees and sessional staff who provide services in Darwin, Alice Springs, Coolalinga, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Jabiru, and where required.
GENERAL ROLE
- Provide leadership and co-ordination for the Psychological Services Team.
- Co-ordinate Psychological Services operations in Darwin, Alice Springs, Coolalinga, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Jabiru.
- Work with the CEO and broader leadership team to maintain and review the policies, procedures and arrangements for delivery of Psychological services and client records management across the Northern Territory, to ensure best practice and quality services.
- Ensure Supervision arrangements are in place for Psychological Services staff and maintain supervision in all offices.
- Receive client feedback forms for all EASA counselling clients and respond, as appropriate.
- Assist in preparing Psychological Services budget and targeted incomes.
- Provide a Psychological Services report for the Board on a monthly basis.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with NT Alcohol and Other Drug Service Level Agreement for counselling services in the Northern Territory.
- Assist with the preparation of Service Level Agreements.
- Co-ordinate review of the ethical practices and policies of EASA, APS and NT Registration Board, including maintaining records within the legal and professional guidelines.
- Assist in developing and implementing the Psychological Service’s strategic long-term and short-term plans and business plans.
- Assist in liaising with agencies and other professional and community groups to ensure:
- That EASA is up to date with the latest developments and that other organisations are aware of services provided by EASA.
- That a good personal knowledge of other treatment services is maintained so that the appropriate referrals are made.
- Maintain professional affiliations and enhance professional development to keep current in the latest psychological trends and developments, providing advice internally on market trends and industry professional standards.
- Travel throughout the Northern Territory and Australia as required.
- Assist in performance appraisals for Psychological Services staff.
- Attend and contribute to weekly EASA general staff and Management Group team meetings.
- Manage a counselling caseload providing short term counselling for individuals across a broad range of issues including: alcohol and other drug misuse, work related problems, relationship and family difficulties, grief, depression, anxiety, emotional stress or other personal problems.
- Provide reports as required.
- Provide research on particular topics or services to assist in planning for EASA.
- Undertake special projects and other assignments as required.
- Supporting the recruitment and onboarding process of clinical staff with the support of the Practice Manager.
- Supporting the training of existing clinical staff.
- Auditing clinical operations and establishing a budget with the support of the finance team.
- Reviewing treatment plans and approving extension requests.
- Training existing employees in any new policies, procedures, or standards to be implemented across the entire organisation.
- Analysing data trends, including any correlation between treatment types and patient outcomes, to develop a better understanding of overall facility efficiency.
- Implementing any updates in healthcare standards.
- Performance of the above duties in accordance with EASA NT Inc. policies and procedures.
CASELOAD
- Manage a counselling caseload providing short term counselling as per below:
Full time basis:
Client Days – 2 x days per week
Admin Days – 1 x day per week
Management Days – 2 x days per week
Client Days
- 3 - 4 x sessions per day
- 30-minute space in between
- Only have 8 regular clients
- Review monthly to assess capacity
ESSENTIAL
- Qualification in either psychology, social work or counselling
- Be fully registered with a recognised accreditation board
- Take on a caseload of clients to keep updated with sessional work
DESIRABLE
- Business or management training
- Experience in a leadership role
