Job Summary 

Working collaboratively with the Chief Executive Officer and program team, lead the clinical team to meet the primary health care needs and improve health outcomes of the Alywarr people and residents of the Urapuntja Homelands remote communities.

About the Opportunity

Urapuntja Health Service Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinic Manager for a permanent on-site role at our central health precinct located 270 kilometres NE of Alice Springs on the Urapuntja Homelands.

This is a hands-on role with on-call requirements.  The Clinic Manager will be required to provide leadership in clinic on a day to day basis, as well as assist with on-call duties as required. The role leads the clinical team to deliver the highest quality of primary health to the remote homeland communities of the Alywarr communities, the First Nations people of the Utopia Homelands. 

Work in collaboration with the CEO, wellbeing, program and clinical teams to provide comprehensive Health Service to our community.

Salary

  • Base Salary $147,063.08 plus superannuation
  • Additional 24%-32.5% on call allowance (in lieu of overtime/penalty rates)
  • Superannuation as per super guarantee (currently 11%)
  • Annual retention bonuses from 3% to 8% (increasing over time)
  • annual salary increases

Conditions 

  • 6 weeks annual leave per annum

About You

To be considered for the Clinic Manager role with the Health Service you must:

  • Have demonstrated experience leading a clinical team in a remote clinical setting
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in nursing (current AHPRA registration essential) with demonstrated 5 years’ experience in a leadership role. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems and processes required to maintain operational effectiveness in a clinical setting
  • Exceptional people management skills, with the proven ability to develop trust and credibility and drive excellence 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including human resource management, workforce planning, rostering and mentoring
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with local communities, government departments and key stakeholders
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and resourcefulness 
  • High degree of accountability and attention to detail

National Police Clearance (within 3 months), approved COVID-19 vaccination and NT Ochre Card (working with children) is mandatory for these positions.  We will assist with application and cost of checks.

This position has direct contact with patients/clients or blood and body substances so is considered “Category A” under the Staff Immunisation for Vaccine Preventable Diseases.  To protect our vulnerable community, successful candidate will be required to maintain up to date vaccinations as detailed in the policy.

Our Footprint and Facilities:

The Urapuntja Health Service is in Amengenterneah, 23 km north of Arlparra, off the Sandover Highway. Our Health Service team (comprising Clinical and Social Emotional Wellbeing Teams) provide services through our main clinic and Wellbeing Centre at Amengernterneah and as a mobile outreach team, visiting 600-800 residents of 16 Homeland communities.  The Health Service is set in an area of natural beauty, with comfortable accommodation for our staff including a well-equipped and modern clinic, a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Centre, men and women’s centres, and a gym.
