To be successful, you will have...
- Eligibility for registration in the category of Registered Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Demonstrated commitment in the application of primary health care principles and a community development approach to practice.
- Demonstrated understanding of cultural factors and social determinants particularly relating to Aboriginal health.
- Demonstrated ability to function independently and as part of a multidisciplinary, multi sectoral and interagency team.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including via the use of computer programs.
- Current C Class Drivers Licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.
Position Profile:
The Clinical Midwife is responsible for providing a high level of primary health care to achieve the optimum state of health for individuals, families and communities with emphasis in the area of community midwifery. The occupant of the position is required to promote culturally capable service delivery that facilitates engagement with Aboriginal people and families.

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at 76 select locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months (WA Country Health Service - Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program).

WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health, and support staff.
