This is a Pool process with permanent and/or fixed term, full time and/or part time opportunities.

Currently, there are 2 permanent position available for immediate filling.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working in prison primary health care delivery provides nurses the opportunity to work with diverse patient groups using varied skill sets.  Every day is different.  As a Clinical Nurse you’re responsible for providing clinical leadership, critical thinking and direct care to patients throughout the patient journey in a custodial setting.  You will manage the delivery of nursing care using well developed skills to manage patients with routine, acute and chronic disease health conditions, health promotion and education, preventative health and immunisation, emergency response and medication management.

Working with the Health Services team at the Department of Justice, you will provide high quality, patient-centred trauma informed nursing care. This includes comprehensive nursing assessment, identifying health issues, care planning to implement nursing interventions and evaluation of care provision to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise however an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies at similar locations, with the Department of Justice for the duration of the pool.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
