Clinical Nurse Consultant - ICU/CCU

Permanent part time with a Global Health Care Company.

About the Role

  • An exciting opportunity has become available to join our growing Critical Care Unit at St Andrew's Ipswich Private Hospital.
  • 10 bed ICU/CCU with ventilation and CRRT capabilities.
  • A mix of medical and surgical ICU patients, as well as a population of cardiac care patients.
  • 4 regular Intensive Care Consultants, 8 ICU training registrars, and approximately 30 permanent ICU trained nurses.
  • Looking for a candidate with minimum 5 years' experience in critical care (post-graduate studies in Critical Care is a requirement).
  • Flexible, part time, negotiable hours with a combination of 8- or 12-hour shifts.
  • The CNC will be expected to work rotating shifts of day and nights to accommodate learning needs of staff members.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant role encompasses planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice, processes and services within the Hospital. You will be responsible for providing clinical direction and supervising designated nursing practice. You will also take on responsibility of ongoing professional development and upskilling of existing clinical team members.

This role will involve, but is not limited to:

  • Acting as a professional resource and demonstrating broad knowledge and clinical expertise in all aspects of critical care nursing practice,
  • Demonstrating a high level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills within the clinical setting.
  • Supervising and supporting staff within the unit.
  • Participate in Quality improvement Programs in line with organisational and departmental strategic plans.
  • Direct and assist nurses through a critical care novice program as part of the wider Ramsay Health Care Nursing Fellowship Program.
  • Develop education opportunities and resources for staff.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong clinical skillset in a hospital setting with experience in Intensive and/or Critical Care. You are skilled in ventilator management and CRRT management. You will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent client care and customer service.

You will also bring;

  • Relevant qualifications and Registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum of five years' experience in ICU and/or CCU
  • Post graduate certificate in critical care or ICU is essential
  • Ability to manage designated portfolio and display strong leadership skills.
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently if required
  • Ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and material resources
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a health-care team, and positively influence the performance of other staff
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs

Highly desirable

  • Certificate IV in workplace training and assessment
  • Completed Preceptorship program

Remuneration

On offer is a base hourly rate ranging from: $60.18 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.

Requirements
