An exciting opportunity exists for the Clinical Nurse Consultant to demonstrate an advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice and decision making in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
The SCUH (Sunshine Coast University Hospital) and Nambour General Hospital Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH) team provide 24-hour access to specialist Mental Health and addiction expertise. The CNC provides specialist intake assessment, consultation, education and support to Emergency Department staff when making decisions regarding interventions and management of Mental Health consumers.
The CNC will rotate within the EDMH adjunct Crisis Support Space (CSS). The CSS is an alternative peer led pathway with adjunct clinical support from EDMH, for individuals presenting to the Emergency Department experiencing Mental Health crisis in a home like environment. The emphasis is on reducing unnecessary lengthy stays in the Emergency Department while also improving people's experience of crisis care.
Your key responsibilities
- The CNC Emergency Department Mental Health (EDMH) is a valued and integral position within an interdisciplinary team delivering high quality nursing care to consumers, their families and carers of the Mental Health and Specialised Service (MHSS) within the SCHHS. The CNC will deliver clinical expertise and leadership in the provision and coordination of contemporary, person-centred care within a clinical specialty in a dynamic health environment, based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's (NMBA) requirements for registration as a nurse.
- This position provides a high level of clinical interventions within the Nambour and SCUH Emergency Department, and outreaches to Gympie and Maleny, as one of the critical entry points to the Mental Health and Specialised Service. This interface is an extremely important cultural juncture, in setting the platform for the relationship and ongoing care in what can be a very distressing time for consumers, carers and their families.
- The CNC will provide high level clinical interventions, identify and facilitate suitable referrals to the Crisis Support Space and work collaboratively with the peer workers to facilitate referrals to specialised and appropriate community-based organisations as required.
- The CNC will undertake a clinical portfolio to enhance integration model of the EDMH and Crisis Support Space.
Remuneration value up to $13684.33 p.m., comprising salary between $5,081.10 - $5,516.60 p.f., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7) (temporary position available for 6 months).
