Are you passionate about Haematology/Oncology nursing? The team in the Cancer Services at Royal North Shore Hospital is seeking a suitably experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join their team. The position is being offered on a temporary full-time basis.Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 28 April 2025 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

The CNC is an expert practitioner who facilitates sound evidence based clinical practice through research and leadership. The CNC is a role model to peer nursing groups within the field of Cancer services. The CNC plays a vital role in providing advanced assessment skills in order to perform telephone triage and advice to patients and families that have received treatment. The CNC is required to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including advanced practice nurses within Medical oncology and Haematology.What you'll be doingThe NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices.The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  • Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with experience using MS Office programs and electronic filing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
