• The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a registered nurse who practices at an advanced level of clinical skill and demonstrates specialised clinical expertise and or specialised skill set.

About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical expertise and care relevant to the Post Operative Discharge Support Service (PODDS).
PODDS will provide alternative pathways to access specialist care for Post Operative elective and emergency surgery patients experiencing complications to streamline the patient journey, reduce representations to Emergency Departments, improve continuity of care and provide an overall improved patient experience.
The Clinical Nurse Consultant will demonstrate:
- An advanced level of autonomous clinical and professional practice.
- An advanced level of decision making in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, internal and external stakeholders.
- Undertakes operational leadership.
- Working collectively to apply the principles of effective clinical governance.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated advanced level of clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in managing Post Operative surgical patients.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide independent professional judgement and expertise in problem solving and clinical management within a complex, fast paced clinical environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities.
- Proven ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills, to build sustainable relationships with key stakeholders inclusive of Multi-disciplinary Teams.
