Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for an Clinical Nurse to lead and deliver person centred nursing care at an advanced level based on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Registered Nurse Standards for Practice. The Clinical Nurse is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making. You will have the responsibility for professional leadership in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 and an opportunity to work collaboratively to lead practice changes and clinical innovation.Job details Position status Fixed Term Temporary

Access theSunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.The SCHHS is a values-based organisation. We respect, protect and promote human rights in our decision-making and actions.The Continuing Care Team provides community case management services for individuals over the age of 18, who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health issues and have difficulty accessing and maintaining social supports. This is a multidisciplinary service. Case management provides the opportunity for the consumer to complete individual recovery and relapse prevention plans, receive evidence based therapeutic interventions, education regarding mental illness and contemporary treatment options, information and referral to other specialist organisations (government and non- government) as well as education, consultation and support for families and carers. The service is recovery oriented, person centred, family inclusive, collaborative and empowering; and operates on the premise that consumers can and do recover from mental illness and drug related disorders.Key Responsibilities include:

  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Provide competent mental health nursing knowledge, expertise and skill in the provision of comprehensive assessment, care and treatment for people identified with mental health diagnoses and provide case management services including therapeutic engagement, education, clinical assessment, risk assessment, and delivery of evidence based therapeutic interventions.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 and the Queensland Public Service values.
Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $131,900 p.a., comprising salary rates: $54.44 - $58.80 p.h.employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6, Band 1) (temporary position available for up to 12 months, 56 hrs p.f.).
