It is an exciting time to join the Child and Adolescent team at Royal North Shore Hospital. We have a 20 bedded inpatient ward, medical and surgical short stay unit, hospital in the home and outpatients services. We cater for children from 0-17 years who are admitted to the unit. Our main specialities include medical, surgical, orthopaedic, ENT, plastics and mental health. We are a welcoming team and offer a supportive fun environment to all staff joining the team. The senior nursing support team includes full time NUM, CNE, CNC and CNS 2’s. The unit has a strong philosophy of quality improvement and family centred care. Royal North Shore Hospital has a positive culture and actively encourages staff to develop. Support is offered for research studies and post graduate qualifications. The Child and Adolescent Unit consists of a 20 bed inpatient ward with the ability to flex up to 24 beds for patients that require an overnight admission. Short stay area (CASSy) for day procedures, infusions, investigations, surgical day stay and medical short stay. Within the unit we have a paediatric Hospital in The Home service, Paediatric Acute Review Clinic and Burns Clinic which run from the CASSy.
What you'll be doing
The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will be guided by the Nurse Unit Manager and Clinical Nurse Consultant in leading, developing, co-ordinated and implementing all structured learning for nurses within NSLHD.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will provide clinical teaching, orientation, skill accreditation and professional development support for all nursing staff and students.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will have a role in the provision of hospital orientation and mandatory training. They will also be expected to teach in courses appropriate to nursing within and at facilities external to NSLHD.
The Clinical Nurse Educator will participate in the development and teaching of the NSLHD Nursing Professional Development Program (this includes travelling to other sites within the LHD for lecturing and facilitation of workshops).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Holds AHPRA Registration as a Registered Nurse AND holds relevant clinical or education post registration qualifications or such education and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to practice safe nursing care and knowledge of policies and clinical practice guidelines.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice, continuous quality improvement and risk management.
