About the role

South West Healthcare's (SWH) Mental Health Services Division provides best practice nursing care for consumers in a recovery oriented model through assessment and clinical planning, in an inpatient 24/7 and community outpatient setting. Collaboratively our service provision is supported by our Mental Health Community teams and the Prevention and Recovery Centre (PARC), providing excellence in care to the broader community in the South West region of Victoria.

As an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) the Clinical Nurse Educators work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to undertake a range of assessments and contribute to the clinical planning of individual care for each client. You will support the development and maintaining of a high quality care environment and promote and participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives.

Both full and part time applicants will be considered for this newly funded permanent position which is available for immediate commencement.

This position is eligible for an incentive payment for rent, childcare, relocation costs and more, as part of the new workforce and incentive grants program administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV).

What you bring

As an experienced RPN with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Mental Health Nursing, this position offers an exciting opportunity to join MHS and contribute to the ongoing professional development of the mental health nursing workforce, assisting in developing a workforce to take SWH-MHS into the future. The successful applicant will require either a post graduate diploma in Mental Health Nursing or to have completed a Specialist Undergraduate Psychiatric Nursing Program. Ability to contribute to mentoring, education, training and professional development programs for nursing staff and work collaboratively with other senior nurses and program managers is essential. Completion of, or a willingness to undertake Certificate IV in workforce training is required.

Additional qualifications or experience in education and training are preferred by not essential.

Working as part of a collaborative and highly skilled team of professionals, excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential, and a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of legislation, regulation and contemporary practice is essential.
