About the service
Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented Mental Health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, Mental Health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.
Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric Nursing
- Post Graduate degree in Mental Health nursing
- Current registration with APHRA as a Division 1 nurse
- Demonstrated experience and/or interest in education, teaching and learning processes
- At least 5 years full time experience working within Mental Health services
- Experience working as a preceptor of junior nursing staff in a Mental Health setting
- Thorough knowledge and sound skill level in the provision of treatment and care to clients with a mental illness, their families and the community
About the role
As the successful applicant you will provide contemporary education within an evidence framework, integrating principles of transformational learning, values based teaching and practice development concepts, in line with the MHDAS Model of Care and Barwon Health values. This will be evidenced by the facilitation of innovative teaching and learning opportunities that support the translation of theory into clinical practice environments, and the empowerment of nurses and health workers in developing knowledge and skill proficiency, critical thinking and reasoning skills.
