SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Clinical Nurse Educator provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of Clinical Nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator also provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.Where you'll be workingGunyah Ward is an acute medical inpatient ward with a bed-base of 27 beds. The patient type admitted to this unit is neurology and general medical patients. The ward includes an Acute Stroke Unit that provides stroke telemetry monitoring for up to 8 patients. The team is supported by the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, Neurology Clinical Nurse Consultant and Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2, as well as a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team who are passionate in managing patients with acute, chronic and complex care needs.Our Hospital and Community:Established in 1958, The Sutherland Hospital campus offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and community services to around 226,000 residents of the Sutherland Shire, colloquially known as ‘The Shire’. Part of the (SESLHD) and located in Caringbah, the hospital campus is close to some of Sydney’s great beaches, restaurants, bars and cafes at Cronulla and is close to the beautiful Royal National Park. At Miranda, just a short walk away from the hospital, there is a Westfield Shopping Centre and cinema complex.The ideal candidate will have: * Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in the field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
- Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.
- Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems.
