Area Profile

Youth Mental Health is managed through the Mental Health, Public Health and Dental Service, North Metropolitan Health Service. Youth Mental Health is comprised of Youth Axis, YouthLink, Youth Hospital in the Home, Youth Community Assessment & Treatment Team (YCATT), Youth and Adult Complex Attentional Disorders Services and Gender Pathways Service (GPS). These services work collaboratively to provide a range of services to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people across metropolitan Perth.

Youth Mental Health (YMH) is a key priority of the Mental Health Commission and WA Government, and this has resulted in exciting opportunities with the expansion of services and development of the Youth Community Assessment & Treatment Team (YCATT).

About this role

We are currently seeking to appoint dynamic, enthusiastic, and suitably experienced individuals to join the Clinical Nurse Specialist team at Youth Community Assessment & Treatment Team (YCATT).

The position, as part of the multidisciplinary team, provides primary response/ triage to referrals made to YCATT; provides consultation and support to referrers, clients and members of the community who contact the service. Identifies the nature and appropriateness of referrals and sets priorities for management; Collates information for presentation at intake meetings and provides assessment and support for young people and their families/carers experiencing mental health problems; conducts emergency assessments as required; acts as a clinical coordinator and resource for nursing staff under the direction of the YCATT Team Leader.

This role reports to the Team Leader YCATT.
