  • Part-time (0.6 -1.0 FTE), Permanent
  • Based at Richmond

About this opportunity:

We are seeking experienced psychologists join this new team and kick-start our new service!

As the Clinical Psychologist, you will apply your clinical knowledge and expertise to the assessment of clients with complex trauma, mental health, and substance misuse issues. 

Staff providing direct interventions and support to their clients will also lean on you for clinical advice.  

Key areas of focus:

  • Direct Clinical work and Clinical Consultation

Duties include but are not limited to…

  • Undertake assessment and provide practical recommendations for evidence-based interventions/approaches for clients.
  • Provide clinical advice to staff working with clients.
  • Provide expert opinion regarding diagnoses, formal diagnostic assessments, feedback on process considerations and treatment planning considerations/advice.
  • Drive staff professional development: contribute expertise in clinical meetings and to improve service delivery Deliver secondary consultations formally and informally.
  • Develop thoughtful, evidence-based recommendations for treatment and management plans.
  • Build capacity for client management within the broader staffing group by providing psychological perspectives.
  • Demonstrate behaviours that support a recovery approach to care.
  • Support psychology students whilst they undertake placement in the team.

Key Selection Criteria:

We are looking for an individual to bring their expertise to our newly established psychology team and provide clinical advice and guidance to clients and staff.


To be successful in this role, you must have…

    1. Registration as a Psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with practice endorsement as a Clinical, Forensic or Clinical Neuropsychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (or eligibility to enter a registrar program as a clinical, forensic or clinical neuropsychologist with the AHPRA where relevant).
    2. Approved supervisor status to supervise registrars and provisional psychologists with AHPRA.
  • Experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of substance abuse and/or mental illness
  • Capacity to undertake a range of screening, assessment and design treatment recommendations with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Current knowledge of effective evidence-based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorders and substance abuse.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers.
  • Ability to work with clients from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services.
  • Ability to see the person, acknowledge their value and work with their strengths.
  • Well-developed writing skills and an ability to promptly prepare case assessments and other forms of documentation in plain English, suitable for a lay audience.
  • A thorough understanding of the policies and procedures associated with the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.

Mandatory COVID vaccinations

In line with OHV's Mandatory Vaccination Policy, all Odyssey House Victoria staff are required to hold Fully Vaccinated (Boosted) status, having also received the Booster Vaccination. Evidence of this minimum of three (3) COVID-19 vaccinations will be requested during the onboarding process and offers will be rescinded where such evidence cannot be provided.

All Odyssey House Victoria sites are smoke free for all employees.
