About the Internship:

The Haematology Clinical Trials Unit of the Liverpool Hospital based at the Ingham Institute is offering a highly sought-after internship opportunity for enthusiastic science/health graduates who are looking to build a career in clinical trials.

This program provides successful applicants with the opportunity to learn and gain valuable skills and practical experience in Haematology clinical trials at our sites.

This internship is committed to developing a highly skilled clinical trial coordinator with the aim of expanding clinical trials activity, access, and patient participation in haematology clinical trials.

The program aims to develop successful applicant interns into job-ready Clinical Research Coordinators.

This opportunity is suitable for science/health graduates interested in gaining the requisite knowledge and skills to become a Clinical Research Coordinator.

About the Placement and Intern Program

As an Intern, you will participate in a structured learning program 5 days per week with onsite supervision in the Haematology clinical trial unit. You will be provided with comprehensive training and expert mentoring while completing practical, real-world tasks to develop your skills that are designed to competitively position you for an ongoing role as a Clinical Research Coordinator

As a Clinical Research Coordinator Intern, you will assist with the coordination of clinical trials as part of the site team to ensure that all clinical trials are managed according to the International Conference for Harmonization (ICH) guidelines for Good Clinical Practice (GCP) to ensure the safety and protection of trial participants and the integrity of trial data subsequently collected. 

Training will include the development of core clinical trial knowledge, skills, and experience in the areas of:

  • An introduction to clinical trials
  • Safety reporting in clinical trials as per NMHRC
  • Practical skills
  • Trials related communications/coordination
  • Software/databases used in trials
  • Mastering your protocol
  • Investigator Site File Management- SiteVault Veeva
  • Data management and patient confidentiality
  • Effective communication with monitors
  • Patient management – attend clinics
  • Preparing for site monitoring visits
  • Trial kits management
  • Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE)
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
  • Clinical Trial Management System

Key Selection Criteria: 

  • Graduate or Postgraduate in a relevant scientific or healthcare discipline
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Good attention to detail
  • Able to work independently, while able to contribute effectively in a team setting 
  • Ability to interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Police Check and if cleared will be offered a full time, 12-month fixed term contract.
