The Clinical Specialist role underpins the sustainability and growth of EML through the Personal Injury Team at EML Solutions. The role leads a high performing and customer-responsive team that works strategically under a Psychological Claims Management Framework with both the employer and employee to reduce both the impact of a psychological injury and the cost of the claim.

This will be a full time, Maximum Term Contract/Secondment position until 31 December 2024 based in the Canberra or Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and assist in driving the strategic direction, performance and sustainability of the clinical function operating within the Valliant Pilot Framework.
  • Oversee and deliver a scalable, efficient, collaborative and effective customer-centric operating model under a psychological claims management framework
  • Identify and evaluate individual and organisational development needs across the national portfolio.
  • Provide and engage specialist support dependent upon the complexity of the claim (trauma/PTSD)
  • Ensure, manage, and mediate a transparent claims determination process inclusive of the initial investigation into liability
  • Work collaboratively with the employee and employer to develop an individualised strategy based on best practice and reasonable treatment taking into account any concurrent industrial action and additional complexities (secondary injury)
  • Lead the efficient and effective gathering of information with the administrative support of the Claims Operations team members to accept reasonable and necessary treatment in line with clinical Frameworks and address barriers to enable early return to work outcomes.
  • Implement injury management, rehabilitation and vocational rehabilitation initiatives across the national PI portfolio
  • Ensure all actions are completed within relevant timeframes and influence case management strategy and claim finalisation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation. Maintain awareness of industry developments and trends and respond effectively to changes.
  • Provide oversight of mental injury recovery and RTW outcome trends to inform the development of reporting and analytics that drives performance improvement.

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role or clinical role, working within in in a fast-paced business environment
  • Tertiary studies in Allied Health (Psychology, Rehabilitation Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapist with Mental Health background)
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Qualifications in Mediation AND/OR Mental Health First Aid is considered advantageous
  • Excellent understanding of psychological illnesses and injuries with experience working within a legislative framework
  • Strong complex case management capabilities with focus on return to work, mental health, medically complex cases
