Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.
The Children’s Short Stay Unit (CSSU) is a very busy 32 bed ward, with patients who have a length of stay up to 48hrs. The Clinical Support Officer (CSA) is integral to this large team, with a high volume of patients and a significant need for administrative support. The successful applicant will join a team of 3 other CSAs who work within the CSSU across various shifts. This role will suit a part time applicant (3-4 days/week). Shifts are predominantly afternoon shifts (3pm- 9.30pm) both weekdays and weekends (1 weekend off per month).

What you'll be doing
The Clinical Support Administrator provides administrative support for a health care team on a designated ward/unit under the management** of the Nursing Unit Manager (NUM). The Clinical Support Administrator works under broad supervision, and is given scope to exercise initiative in the application of established work practices and procedures to achieve excellent customer service within the unit (patients/families and staff).
- Administrative skills demonstrated by possessing a Certificate III in Health Administration (or equivalent).
- Ability to work effectively as a key member of a multi-disciplinary health team to enable the provision of excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills inclusive of competence in spoken and written English.
- Ability to deal confidently and courteously with people who may be distressed, people from diverse backgrounds and health care staff from different positions and levels.
- Demonstrated experience in use of Information Systems, including patient administration systems, word processing, email, databases and preparation and use of spreadsheets.
- Ability to prioritise own workload to meet both position and team requirements.
- A demonstrated ability to resolve workplace issues or problems by use of problem solving skills.
- Ability to work on a rotating roster (if relevant and required).
