This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Term Part Time, and Casual appointments. We have 1 (one) Fixed Term Full time position available, with the possibility of extension and/ or permanency.


Position Profile:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is a service area of the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years following a holistic and patient-centered approach.

We are seeking a Clinical Support Officer to provide comprehensive and confidential administrative and secretarial services to clinical staff and Nurse Coordinators across the mental health departments located at Perth Children’s Hospital: 

Ward 5A – state-wide mental health inpatient unit that provides assessment and treatment for children and young people who are 15 years old or under with complex and acute mental health issues.

Paediatric Consultation Liaison – provides mental health and wellbeing support for inpatients and outpatients who are receiving treatment for physical health issues.

Eating Disorders Service – provides a range of supportive treatments for children and young people who are experiencing difficulties in managing their health, in relation to eating and exercise, as well as their families through assessment, recovery and discharge from the service

Gender Diversity Service – specialist outpatient service for the assessment and care of children and adolescents experiencing gender diversity issues.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Efficiently managing incoming correspondence from various sources, including hospitals, public, and private entities, both in-person and via phone, and directing queries to the appropriate personnel.
  • Being the first point of contact for visitors, patients, and staff, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience
  • Developing and maintaining efficient record and information systems, and safeguarding the security of confidential documents,
  • Liaising with clinical staff to plan and organize cases for discussion in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Updating policy manuals and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and procedures
  • Upholding CAHS governance standards, ensuring a safe work environment, supporting the delivery of safe patient care, and actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Previous experience in an administrative and/or secretarial support service environment for a large complex organisation.
  2. Highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to liaise and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Well-developed computer literacy with highly developed experience in the MSOffice suite of applications, databases, rostering, and data extraction.
  4. Excellent time management and organisational skills including the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This is a recruitment pool, and as such the following should be noted:

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill any available vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
