Cloud Engineer (Azure)

As an Azure migration expert, you will be responsible for assessing existing IT environments, executing migrations, and modernising workloads to leverage the full potential of cloud-native services offered by Azure.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Conduct assessments of on-premises IT environments to identify workloads suitable for migration to Azure.
• Conduct detailed analysis of current systems, applications, and databases to identify dependencies, performance bottlenecks, security considerations, and compliance requirements.
• Provide insights and recommendations to optimise migration strategies.
• Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource requirements, in collaboration with project stakeholders.
• Execute migration activities, including workload discovery, server replication, data migration, and application re-platforming, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Implement best practices for Azure governance, security, and cost management throughout the migration and modernisation process.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts, templates, and deployment pipelines to streamline migration and modernisation workflows.

Key Requirements:

• In-depth knowledge of Azure services, including VMs, storage, networking, databases, and identity and access management (IAM).
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Azure Biceps.
• Strong understanding of cloud migration methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with migration tools like Azure Migrate, Dr.Migrate - highly advantageous. 
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Familiarity with application modernization techniques, including containerisation, microservices architecture, and serverless computing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
