Azure Cloud Engineer

About the Job

Join Tilt as a Azure Could Engineer and take charge of our Azure environment and network infrastructure, ensuring seamless system operations. Collaborating closely with the Tech team, you'll troubleshoot issues, fortify security measures, and optimize performance. The ideal candidate is an Azure expert, proficient in PowerShell scripting, and prioritizes automation. With exceptional problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of various technologies, you'll tackle diverse responsibilities including system maintenance, security management, and performance optimisation. 

The key elements of this role include:

• Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools. 
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability 
• Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify workable solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes. 
• Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. 
• Write and maintain custom scripts (PowerShell) to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks. 
• Participate in the design of information and operational support systems. 
• Provide escalation support to the Service Desk 
• Manage and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, and networking. 
• Maintain MS SQL databases (Azure PaaS and Azure VM - managed) 
• Implement and manage Azure security and compliance controls. 
• Monitor and optimize Azure infrastructure for performance and cost efficiency. .

Skills and Experience required:

Relevant experience gained in a similar role and/or with a Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent and be well versed in the following areas: 

Infrastructure Expert 

• Expert in the setup and maintenance of infrastructure and platform monitoring technologies. 
• Expert experience with Azure cloud platform, including Azure Resource Manager, Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, Azure Security, and Azure Monitor 
• Expert PowerShell scripting skills. 
• Experience with IaaC (Bicep or Terraform) highly desirable. 
• Experience with Git and version control desirable. 

Cyber Security 

• Practical experience in implementing and maintaining a cloud-centric corporate environment (i.e. SaaS management, Zero-trust ideals) 
• Strong understanding of security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls 

Administration

• Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Windows Defender, Cisco Meraki Firewall Configuration, Intune etc) 
• Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows/Linux based environments. 
• Testing backup systems and disaster recovery plans for infrastructure 

Management and Planning 

• Project management and tasks management, including delegation to other team members. 
• Driving change management, including planning, and documenting substantial changes that affect multiple systems and users. 
• Assess the impact of proposed changes on stakeholders, processes, and systems.
