Your Role
- Responsible for the deployment of cloud, container, and virtual platforms while enhancing infrastructure-as-code capabilities.
- Oversee the provisioning, support, and ongoing enhancement of cloud infrastructure and application hosting solutions.
- Mentor application teams to adopt AWS operational excellence best practices.
- Continually refine application deployments and uphold monitoring and observability standards.
- Aid in cost optimization, scaling, resilience, disaster recovery strategies, and tiered storage.
- Support the release and upkeep of software applications in line with business requirements.
- Develop and refine cloud engineering processes to ensure smooth and automated progression of releases across environments.
- Manage build pipelines, runners, and design secure workflows to production.
- Remediate security issues promptly and highlight potential security risks.
- Construct and maintain internal tools.
- Be on-call for supported systems and services
Technical Skills:
- Possess robust AWS cloud experience and the ability to automate and orchestrate various cloud environments across the Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Able to align AWS cloud services with best practices from automation, operations, and security perspectives.
- Able to enhance the operational aspect of production and development systems to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Able to successfully identify, prioritize, and resolve issues while providing expertise for enhancements, developments, and operational improvements.
- Assist in building technical requirements analysis and review.
- Able to ensure compliance standards are met across all managed cloud and SaaS spaces.
Continuous Improvement:
- Contribute to the automation and refinement of current processes.
- Assist in improving code quality and standards through meaningful testing.
- Implement appropriate logging and monitoring across all services and applications
- Support multiple teams in achieving delivery expectations in the AWS cloud environment.
- Contribute to project estimations, including time and cost, specifically for AWS platforms.
Your Experience
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Cloud Platform Engineer/DevOps Engineer role or similar.
- Hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure and platform services is mandatory.
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams with a solid understanding of Agile concepts and methodologies.
- Proficiency with AWS services including but not limited to Cloudfront, EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, RDS, SNS, SQS, Lambda, StepFunctions, etc.
- Practical experience with Cloudformation, preferably using AWS CDK.
- Hands-on experience with container technologies like Docker, ECS, EKS, and best practices from an operations and security perspective.
- Development experience in at least one language such as Python, TypeScript, Golang, or Java.
- Experience using Agile tools like Atlassian JIRA, Confluence.
- A good understanding of CI/CD toolsets like Gitlab CI and git-based workflows.
- Experience building cloud infrastructure pipelines, automation, and release processes.
- Experience working in complex, large-team technical environments that require prompt resolution and strategic actions.
- AWS Certified Architect Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Professional certification is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
