Overview
AHP3: The Clozapine Clinical Coordinator is an experienced and highly competent clinician who provides professional leadership to medical, nursing and allied health professionals involved in the Public Clozapine Program working across all country regions of South Australia (SA). The Clozapine Clinical Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Clozapine protocols and guidelines are followed, and that all stakeholders are adhering to safe practices. The Clozapine Clinical Coordinator leads and oversees Clozapine administration of regional Local Health Networks (LHNs) mental health consumers, and ensures that the Associate Clozapine Coordinators based in the mental health regional teams are supported and supervised. Developing and reviewing all systems that support Clozapine administration in country regions is central to this role, as is education and provision of clinical evidence based information to all stakeholders. Planning and leading the change management processes required to improve the administration of Clozapine in rural and remote locations of SA is essential, as is maintaining safety on a continual basis.

Employees classified at this level provide clinical nursing expertise to contribute to the improvement of high quality, safe mental health services and provides clinical and consultancy services that support the recovery of mental health consumers across community, acute and rehabilitation service settings. Employees classified at this level are experts within their area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
Various practice models may be used to enact this role, including but not limited to:
- Primarily providing expert mental health nursing care and consultation;
- Providing clinical leadership to nurses; and
- Coordination and leadership of projects and/or programs that contribute clinical expertise to improve consumer/service outcomes.
