The Role

The successful candidate will become an integral part of Vuly’s dynamic R&D department. The ideal candidate for the role will be passionate about product design and motivated by a hands-on, practical approach to executing the vision of the design team. We are looking for an individual that isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty! You’ll turn innovative ideas and visions into prototypes and be responsible for testing protocols, procedures and analysis. Vuly prides itself on innovation, safety to the highest standard and consistency in production for all of our products. 

Responsibilities

  • CNC programming and operation for the production of prototypes, moulds and dies.
  • Operation and technical maintenance of various testing machines and rigs.
  • Ordering of required materials, parts, services, etc., to meet the prototyping, tool making and testing requirements of the department.
  • Gathering, analysing and reporting of all testing data.
  • Arranging prototypes to verify the design of new products.
  • Ensuring the compliance of product improvements and new products with or exceeding relevant safety standards.
  • Working with the engineering and Quality Control team to determine the requirements of in-process inspection and finished product inspection.
  • Other miscellaneous (various) relevant projects as requested by the Head of Research & Development and CEO.
  • Discussing and pushing suppliers in China for prototyping and manufacturing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred but not mandatory.

Requirements

  • Creative approach to problem solving. Candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in the work they do and how it fits into the bigger picture of the business – this role is about more than just pushing buttons!
  • Tool making experience would be beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge across a variety of steel and plastic manufacturing methods and technologies.
  • Steel fabrication skills (welding, bending, etc.) are highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Highly proficient in CAD/CAM software, preferable SolidWorks/SolidCam
  • Excellent ability to read and understand a wide range of design drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with FEA simulations is also highly desirable
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
