Responsibilities
This position forms a critical aspect of our diverse debtor portfolio. You are responsible for building strong long-lasting relationships with past, existing and future clients in your dealings with them on their accounts. You will be responsible for keeping customers within their arrears thresholds and monitoring and reducing overdue accounts and have the opportunity to learn from and work with an experienced and successful Collections Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity for a vibrant and customer focused Collections Officer who enjoys a chat and sees the benefit in building relationships.
Duties include:
- Managing your portfolio of arrears accounts through effective time management and customer service skills.
- Liaising and negotiating with customers on their overdue accounts to ensure timely payment.
- Investigating reasons for arrears, identifying financial hardship while demonstrating empathy.
- Assessing prospective customer rental applications through risk assessment process.
- Performing to set KPI’s in relation to the recovery of outstanding debt.
- Maintaining aged debt within acceptable arrears parameters.
- Referring and managing relationships with external recovery and mercantile agents to escalate arrears through to litigation where required.
You will have:
- Collections experience in the construction and trade sector and/or rental industry.
- Strong respectful negotiation skills
- Be a Self-Starter
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing processes and growing teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- A proven ability to work within a team
- A methodical and committed approach to undertaking weekly tasks
- Ambition to understand a start-up business and build a depth of experience in business not offered by larger corporations.
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum three (3) years' debt collection/recoveries experience
- Excellent and professional communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to gather, collate and present evidence
- Professionally presented
- Self-driven with the ability to work autonomously, manage your own workload and work in a target driven environment
