GUIDANCE COUNSELLOR
Full Time Continuing Position
Commencing Term 3, 2024.
St James College Spring Hill Brisbane is a progressive co-educational (Years 5-12) Catholic Secondary College of 830 students in the Edmund Rice Tradition offering high quality innovative educational/training pathways to students with an emphasis on global learning and achieving aspirations for students from very diverse cultural backgrounds.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in Clinical Psychology and/or Social Work and/or Counselling.
- Counselling experience in play/ creative therapy and positive behaviour therapy, preferably in an educational setting.
- Facilitate proactive programs, preventative practices and initiatives that promote the social, emotional and educational wellbeing of all students.
- Deliver personal counselling and consulting services for students with a focus on prevention, intervention, student learning, and working with all stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team and all other professionals at school and external agencies.
- Provide and/or enable assessments as part of the College’s process of providing effective intervention for students e.g. psychiatrists, social workers, family therapist, psychologists, paediatricians, NDIS.
- Maintain standards of practice that are consistent with student protection processes, networks, registration boards and membership of professional associations.
- Flexibility in approach, and capacity to operate effectively in a reactive manner.
