ABOUT THE BRANCH

COMCAR provides high quality, secure and confidential car-with-driver and other ground transport services to the Governor-General, Prime Minister (both current and former, parliamentarians, members of the Federal Judiciary and other high office holders. 

COMCAR also provides ground transport and associated support services to visiting Guests of Government such as Royalty, Heads of State, Heads of Government, and other foreign dignitaries. COMCAR frequently delivers services during major international events, such as the ASEAN Special Summit, Group of Twenty meetings (G20), the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other Ministerial forums hosted in Australia. 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the COMCAR team, you will be responsible for providing support to the Depot Manager in the delivery of COMCAR’s services.

Core duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Depot Manager with the day-to-day operations of the Depot, ensuring the delivery of high quality and timely car-with-driver services to COMCAR clients
  • Supervising and supporting driving staff in an environment operating 24 hours a day, seven days per week
  • Providing administrative support for the COMCAR Depot including payroll systems, timesheet management, and data analysis
  • Supporting the management of a vehicle fleet in an efficient, effective, and environmentally sustainable manner
  • Supporting the Depot Manager and/or COMCAR’s Visits team with delivery of the Guest of Government visit program, ensuring a high level of service delivery, observing strict security and confidentiality protocols
  • Capably represent COMCAR and the Department of Finance in an official capacity, presenting with credibility.

Note: This role involves intermittent after-hours commitments and applicants must be able to meet the flexible requirements of the position, including occasional interstate travel. 

This is an operational role and there is a requirement for candidates to work from the Depot. Flexible working arrangements will be considered for all candidates in line with the Departmental guidelines but would need to suit the operational requirements of the role. 

Applicable allowances, flex time and overtime are payable for additional duties outside of regular hours of work, in line with the Department of Finance Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027

ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTES

  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack. All Finance staff are required to have a minimum baseline security clearance prior to commencement.
  • This role is being advertised as both ongoing and non-ongoing. A position may be offered as ongoing or non-ongoing subject to operational requirements and/or candidate preference. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months. A specified term may be extended up to a maximum period of 18 months.
