The key duties of the position include
What is the role?
The AFP Eastern Command is looking for a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic Senior Commercial and FacilitiesTeam Member to meet a current Band 6 vacancy within the Eastern Command Finance and Commercial team. The team is a high performing motivated team that provides effective Finance, Procurement, Fleet and Assets advice, as well as people centred solutions, to all employees and Senior Executive within the Command. Strong communication skills and being able to adapt and work as part of a team, is critical to being successful in the role.
The Senior Team MemberCommercial and Facilities
The Commercial and Facilities team supports a Command through the delivery of asset management, fleet services, property reporting and Facilities services aligned with the Command Corporate Services Unit (CCSU) service offer. You are responsible for working collaboratively with the Chief Finance Officer Portfolio and your team to drive and support efficient, effective and compliant commercial services across a Command. You will work under the broad direction of the CCSU Team Leaders, the Assistant Corporate Business Partner and the Corporate Business Partner. You work autonomously with minimal supervision, providing expertise as a subject matter expert to a diverse range of stakeholders including Command Executives and frontline staff.
You are a motivated, skilled and client-focused professional, who is forward thinking, dynamic and flexible in your approach to day-to-day work. You have the ability to prioritise and multi-task, engaging multiple stakeholders and corporate centres of excellence to deliver high-level outcomes to foster a positive reputation and trust in the team. As a Senior Team Member you will also develop and mentor Team Members, adopt change and influence behaviours that lead to a supportive culture.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
As a Commercial and FacilitiesSenior Team Member, you support the Command to manage their Commercial and/or facilities requirements effectively through timely and accurate advice and analysis.
Your responsibilities may include the following:
  • Working collaboratively with National property operations to effectively execute and facilitate ongoing operational requirements of the Commands building projects by overseeing the completion of building related works including maintenance and upgrade projects and other commercial services.
  • Assisting the creation of workspaces across all floors, providing teams with operational equipment and requirements by simplifying movements within high volume operational areas to allow ongoing completion of objectives and minimise/eradicate potential delays.
  • Liaise with Regional Security Advisors regarding upcoming and completed building works and discuss security implications within the building including managing relationships without outside contractors/technicians to ensure delivery of service.
  • Proactively identifying opportunities to provide value-add strategic building advice collaborating with finance to review cost impacts of proposals/projects incorporating value for money.
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date detailed floor plan identifying area/team layouts.
  • Overseeing asset management activities including stocktakes, asset disposal and annual asset replacement budget bids.
  • Overseeing the coordination of fleet services, including servicing, fuel cards, insurance claims, parking and infringements.
  • Overseeing the delivery of facility services, including spatial planning, physical security (issuing security passes and contractor escorting), accommodation projects and key management.
  • Driving innovation and continuous corporate service delivery improvements to reduce red tape and better support the frontline.
  • Providing expert advice and support to deliver relevant business, strategic and enterprise wide reporting requirements.
  • Maintaining contemporary subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities aligned with the AFP's 70:20:10 Model of Learning to ensure you are able to effectively undertake your duties and are up to date on relevant legislative and policy changes.
  • Effectively building and maintaining capability within the team, while managing the day-to-day performance of Team Members.
  • Delivering functional projects as requested/directed by the Corporate Business Partner
