Responsibilities:
Your job responsibilities will be broadly, but not limited to the below. At all times, you will be required to conduct yourself in a professional manner that reflects the core values of Equis, take initiative and seek out opportunity and responsibility, displaying a strong work ethic and both ability and willingness to execute on a hands-on basis:
- Administer and maintain all executed project contracts for key projects including management of counterparties, variations, claims and disputes.
- Assist the legal and project teams in the negotiation of new major projects contracts.
- Design and propose procurement strategies for key projects.
- Ensure contract compliance with Equis and OHS laws and requirements.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders involved in contract administration.
- Identify and track contractual, commercial and construction risks, produce a risk scoring matrix, and discuss and support the team in assessing the financial implications and estimating LDs.
- Identify risks and propose solutions to mitigate risks associated with contracts.
- Assist the legal and project teams in managing project delivery risks, through the creation of commercial and contractual strategies including contract variations and disputes, and recognizing when to escalate issues, work closely with the technical, commercial and financial teams as necessary.
- Coach the project delivery team and support project contract administrator/project managers after contract handover and beyond NTP as required.
- Coach/Mentor the team to identify construction and contractual risks, rank the risk and financial implications, and ensure the critical risks are tackled first.
- Provide input and suggestions for the creation and upkeep of the program of work from the negotiation phase until the financial closing. Contribute to the program of work post-NTP.
- Provide high-quality, timely guidance in line with contract frameworks and Equis policies and procedures.
- Develop the Project Cost Management Plan, defining how the project will be managed financially including methods for capturing and reporting all costs for the project.
- Assist in the Financial Control Processes for the program, including validating the appropriateness of the expenditure, available budget and expenditure approval levels.
- Provide support to Head of Legal in developing contractual precedents and administering compliance measures.
- Participate in legal and compliance meetings and initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- University qualification in any of engineering, law, commerce, business management or alike.
- At least 7+ years post university experience in the construction, major projects or renewables industry.
- Relevant experience in construction law, procurement, corporate governance or government regulation.
- Strong business development skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and an ability to build relationships and trust with internal stakeholders and counterparties.
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Solid understanding of contract and construction law.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Commercial acumen and entrepreneurial values.
- Ability to project manage, managing time and setting priorities.
