The Negotiation Lead is a Senior Executive role responsible for overseeing and directing the Negotiation Team, including driving Government positions during Negotiations for high value high profile infrastructure maintenance contracts.
The role involves leading negotiations to achieve key outcomes, working in partnership with several internal stakeholders including working closely with the Project Director and Project Manager.
The role also provides updates and recommendations to the Steering Committee established purely for the contracts to be negotiated.

Key accountabilities
- Provide direction and guidance to the negotiation team.
- Provide strategic advice and assessment of risks involved to the Project Director and Project Manager.
- Oversee the development, confirm, and present to SteerCo, the Negotiation Strategy.
- Implement the Negotiation Strategy including negotiation tactics based on Steward positions.
- Managing and resolving conflicts that may arise during the negotiation process.
- Identify potential cross-stream risks associated with the negotiation and developing mitigation strategies.
- Make key decisions on negotiation points and strategies in consultation with Project Director and SteerCo.
- Leading negotiations with the Stewards having regard to technical, financial, commercial and legal advice.
- Provide regular updates and reports on negotiation progress to SteerCo.
- Oversee the transition from negotiation to contract execution and implementation.
- Operating in a complex environment subject to ongoing changes within a highly visible organisation that is subject to high profile media environment, and undertaking planning to decision making is integrated with broader government objectives that can impact in a very direct manner the day-to-day lives of people in NSW.

- Direct Reports: Commercial Lead (part time dedicated), Transaction Manager (full time dedicated, Financial Lead, Probity Advisor (part time dedicated), Technical Lead (part time dedicated).
- Extensive and proven experience in negotiating complex contracts, and working on $1 billion + projects, preferably in the infrastructure or construction sector. Experience specifically in maintenance contracts is highly desirable
- Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, law, engineering, or a related discipline. A master's degree or professional certification in contract management or negotiation.
- Commercial Knowledge: Strong understanding of commercial terms, with the ability to draft, review, and negotiate effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and negotiate persuasively.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading cross-functional negotiation teams and driving clear positions.
- Advisory Expertise and Experience: Demonstrated experience with government processes.
- Immediate availability/commencement.
- Full time up until Nov 2024.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple negotiations simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Flexibility to travel for face to face negotiation meetings.
